Policy for protecting personal data

Scope of Application for this Privacy Policy

This privacy policy (this “Privacy Policy”) is applied to personal data of Customers within the EEA region provided on the website (this “site”) managed and operated by KEL Corporation (the “Company” or “we”), and to personal data of contact persons of Customers within the EEA region, etc. obtained by the Company and its subsidiary, KEL Europe GmbH (together with the Company, “the Companies” or “we”)

Definitions

The “personal data” in this Privacy Policy means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person, and includes, without limitation, name, address, date of birth, gender, phone number, e-mail address, IP address, cookie identifier, access logs and other online identifiers.
The “processing” in this Privacy Policy means any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, obtaining, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction.

Objectives for Using Personal Data

As part of our business activities, which are primarily involved with the electronic parts manufacturing industry, the Companies will process personal data only to the extent needed to achieve the objectives for the following items.

  • Executing contracts completed between the customer (the “Customer”) and this Company
  • Communicating with the Customer for business discussions or consultations
  • Providing after-sales service for products
  • Sending information on events and new products
  • Providing services for our membership system
  • Work related to stock
  • Responding to inquiries
  • Analysis using questionnaires to improve products and services
  • Running this site

This site may measure the effect of this site and the Companies’ online advertising by obtaining and analyzing information such as what content the Customer viewed on the site, and from what site the Customer accessed this site.
When processing a Customer’s personal data for any purpose other than the above, we notify the Customer in advance of the purpose of such additional processing and matters necessary under the related laws and regulations, unless otherwise permitted by applicable laws and regulations.
By expressing their intention to consent to this Privacy Policy, a Customer is considered to have consented to the Companies’ processing of their personal data, and the Companies perform processing of the Customer’s personal data based on such Customer’s consent; provided, however, that a Customer may, at any time, withdraw such consent.
When a Customer applies for the e-mail distribution service or to purchase goods, or otherwise makes any inquiry on this site, it may be necessary to provide the Customer’s personal data to the Companies. In such case, a Customer who does not provide personal data to the Companies may not be able to use some of the services.

Provision of Personal Data

“Objectives for using personal data” above, the Companies may provide the Customer’s personal data to the Company’s subsidiaries and affiliate companies (For more details,please click here), as well as to the Companies’ consignees such as companies to which the design and operation of this site is consigned, and advertising companies.

The third parties to which the Companies provide the Customer’s personal data include third parties in countries outside the EU (including, without limitation, Japan; the same shall apply hereinafter), the Customer shall be deemed to have consented to the following by way of consenting to this Privacy Policy:

  1. In countries outside the EU, data protection laws equivalent to those in the EU may not have been organised and many of the rights granted to data subjects in the EU may not be given;
  2. The personal data of Customers may be provided and processed for the purposes of use identified in “Objectives for using personal data” above; and
  3. The Customer’s personal data may be provided to third parties in countries outside the EU.

When providing the Customer’s personal data to a third party, the Companies confirm that they have security levels sufficient for processing personal data, and the Companies conduct required supervision as appropriate through contracts and other means.

Retention Period

Although the Companies retain the Customer’s personal data only for the reasonable period necessary for providing the services thereto, when such personal data becomes unnecessary, the Companies promptly delete the same.

Securing Accuracy

The Companies make efforts to keep the contents of the personal data up to date, and to correct any error or deficiency therein.

Safety Measures for Personal Data

The personal data provided by Customers is managed in an appropriate and responsible manner by each division within the Companies that received the personal data. We have instituted measures for managing access to the personal data, restricting the means by which the personal data can be extracted, and preventing improper access from external sources. We strive to protect against the loss, theft, destruction, alteration, or leakage of personal data. We also strive to conduct activities to raise the awareness of protecting personal data for the employees processing personal data.

Individual Rights in regard to Personal Data

Customers are entitled to request access to and rectification or erasure of personal data retained by the Companies or restriction of processing concerning the Customer or to object to processing, as well as the right to data portability. Moreover, with regard to the processing of personal data regarding a Customer, such Customer is entitled to raise an objection against the Companies or with the data protection authority that administers the residence of such Customer.

Use of SSL

As a rule, the input forms on this site for receiving personal data from Customers use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) code. We encrypt the content of our communications to prevent the improper interception of this information by third parties.
In addition to the input forms using SSL code, this site also has input forms that do not use SSL code for those Customers whose browsers do not support that code. When these input forms are used, the content of communications is not encrypted. Please be advised that, when using such forms, it may be possible for third parties to improperly intercept the content of the communications and to read the same.

Use of Cookies

This site uses cookies for the following purposes in a method that does not permit the identification of the Customer’s name and contact details, etc. Cookies are text files retained on a Customer’s browser when the Customer visits this site, and they can be used to remember the Customer’s activities on this site.

  1. To improve the operability of this site; and
  2. To analyze the Customer's access registration on the site to determine the cause of any trouble on this site.

Changing the settings on the Customer’s web browser will invalidate the cookies and might cause a warning to be displayed on the PC screen before the cookie is placed on the PC. Please be advised, however, that when the cookie is invalidated, it may not be possible to use some of the services provided on this site.

Handling of Links on this Site

This privacy policy does not apply to the other websites to which this site links. To determine how these websites handle personal data, please refer to the policy for the protection of personal data at these websites.

Compliance with Laws and Regulations

When processing the personal data received from Customers, the Companies comply with the applicable laws and regulations regarding the protection of personal data to protect that personal data.

Revision of this Privacy Policy

The Companies continually reexamine their approach to protecting personal data and will revise this Privacy Policy as required by striving to modify and improve it in a timely fashion.
