ISC3 Series
ISO Card Connectors Landing Contact type
Recent years have seen an explosion in the use of smart cards - that is, media devices containing multi-functional microchips. Going forward, further demand is expected in terms of vehicle-mounted devices for electronic toll collection systems, electronic money solutions, bank terminals, medical ID systems, and the like. The KEL ISC3 Series provides landing-type connectors for smart cards compliant with ISO 7816. Cost has been reduced through the use of a simplified design comprising a lower number of component parts (seven) than conventional connectors, furthermore, this series features a low profile of a mere 5.3 mm.
KEL's unique Seesaw Contact Method distances the mechanical section that makes physical contact with smart cards from the electrical connection points and deploys the contact section within a recess in the insulator, thus preventing the buildup of dust and the resultant contact instability.
